Here's today's Final Jeopardy (in the category Colonial America) for Friday, October 2, 2026 (Season 43, Game 15):

After his malt house went bankrupt, he found his calling as a firebrand who kept "citizens awake to their grievances"

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today's Jeopardy! contestants:

Adam Bundy, an advertising partnerships manager from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Arjun Nageswaren, a Ph.D. student originally from Buffalo Grove, Illinois
Rian Robertson, a software developer from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Rian enters today's game as a 1-day champion with winnings of $16,100.

Andy's Pregame Thoughts:

We have a Canadian taking up residence at the champion's lectern on the Alex Trebek Stage, with Ottawa's Rian Robertson winning $16,100 yesterday. Today, he faces off against Illinois's Arjun Nageswaren and Philadelphia's Adam Bundy.

This is also a reminder that this weekend's episode of Jeopartalk will be live on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM Eastern, available on both YouTube and Twitch, and if any friends/contestants/former contestants want to join me on the show, you're welcome to contact me.

More Information About Final Jeopardy!:

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2026 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

Samuel Adams, one of America's Founding Fathers, displayed a significant lack of business acumen; he entered the family malthouse business, but his lack of understanding of accounting responsibilities, among other issues, cause the business to close in the 1740s.

In a January 1771 letter that appeared in the Boston Gazette (and later in The Writings of Samuel Adams, collected and edited by Harry Alonson Cushing). Speaking of actions that a "true patriot" does, Adams wrote, "He will, as far as he is able, keep the attention of his fellow citizens awake to their grievances; and not suffer them to be at rest, till the causes of their just complaints are removed." Adams was seen as one of the foremost Americans who divided the country away from Britain and was one of the foremost leaders of the American Revolution. In the 1980s, his name was also used by the Boston Beer Company to name one of their lagers, drawing on the malt-making tradition of Adams's family.

Obviously, with one of the players being Canadian today, I think it might leave our American challengers today at a bit of an advantage here. We shall see, though!

Game Recap:

In a game that saw all three players hold the lead at some point during the Double Jeopardy! Round, it was Adam Bundy who led entering Final Jeopardy, thanks to having picked up a combined $5,300 from a pair of correct Daily Doubles, compared to Arjun Nageswaran's $3,000 and Rian Robertson's $0.

However, in what might be seen as a surprise considering a very American-coded Final Jeopardy, the Canadian was the only player to be correct on Clue 61, giving our Ottawa resident the victory for the second night in a row, and will return on Monday to attempt to pick up win #3.

Scores going into Final:

Adam $11,700
Arjun $9,800
Rian $9,000

Tonight's results:

Rian $9,000 + $801 = $9,801 (Who is Sam Adams?) (2-day total: $25,901)
Arjun $9,800 - $9,800 = $0 (Who is Patrick Henry?)
Adam $11,700 - $8,300 = $3,400 (Who is Williams)

Game Stats:

Rian $9,000 Coryat, 13 correct, 5 incorrect, 31.58% in first on buzzer (18/57), 0/0 on rebound attempts (on 6 rebound opportunities)
Adam $9,000 Coryat, 20 correct, 6 incorrect, 35.09% in first on buzzer (20/57), 2/4 on rebound attempts (on 7 rebound opportunities)
Arjun $7,600 Coryat, 13 correct, 2 incorrect, 24.56% in first on buzzer (14/57), 0/0 on rebound attempts (on 9 rebound opportunities)
Combined Coryat Score: $25,600

Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:

(Scores: Adam $11,700 Arjun $9,800 Rian $9,000)

Rian: Limit your bet to $5,199 today to stay ahead of Adam if he makes the standard cover bet and is incorrect. I would bet as close to that number as I feel comfortable here, because Arjun has his own choice to make strategy-wise and you being more aggressive may force him into a cover bet situation himself, which plays to your advantage. (Actual bet: $801)

Arjun: You're in the betting scenario known as "Stratton's Dilemma"; you can't bet to lock out Rian and play for the Triple Stumper. If you want to play for that Triple Stumper, bet between $2 and $799 to stay ahead of Rian's pre-Final Jeopardy score. If you do choose the cover bet over Rian, then you might as well bet the full $9,800 in order to maximize potential winnings in victory. (Actual bet: $9,800)

Adam: Standard cover bet today over Arjun is $7,901. (Actual bet: $8,300)
