Today is Day #2 of Season 43 of Jeopardy!; yesterday saw Matthew Riggle come back from a score of $0 ten clues into the Double Jeopardy Round to pull out a victory, definitely proving that you just can not count him out until the game is actually over. Today, he goes for victory #4 against Abby Mullen, originally from South Carolina, and Wesley Jalipa, originally from Missouri.
One thing that a few people have asked me over the years is if I cheer for any contestants in particular. And I'll readily admit that I do tend to cheer for the returning champion, barring some sort of preexisting personal connection to a challenger. Why? Because the longer a champion's run lasts, the more interest there is in the show and about my website.
Yesterday saw a bunch of interesting news break; the Season 43 tournament schedule was released, and I'll have more specific thoughts on some of the general reaction to that in my weekly editorial on Sunday.

The iconic Seattle landmark known as the Space Needle, built for the 1962 World's Fair held in the city, was actually inspired by the Stuttgart Tower in Germany; Edward E. Carlson, Fair chairperson, saw the tower in West Germany and decided that Seattle needed a tower with a restaurant. Interestingly, it took significant time to find a suitable site to build the tower in time for the fair, which nearly scuppered the project entirely.
According to the Space Needle's website itself, the chief engineer for the project, John Minasian, "had also designed rocket gantries for NASA."
As long as you don't get hung up in the Bay Area, I think this is an eminently gettable Final Jeopardy clue.
