Today's Jeopardy! contestants:

Jamie Calandro, a high school music teacher from Ellsworth, Maine
Karen Bradley, a regulatory operations director from Long Island City, New York
Shannon Leigh Godwin, an interior designer from Oakland, California

Shannon enters today's game as a 1-day champion with winnings of $16,001.

Andy's Pregame Thoughts:

On Friday's show, Shannon Leigh Godwin of Oakland was able to prevent Anthony Cantor from running the entire taping week's worth of games; she returns today as a 1-day champion. Today, she faces off against Karen Bradley of Long Island and Jamie Calandro of Maine.

For the third Monday in succession, the J!6 questions have been late to appear on Jeopardy!'s website; this is certainly a trend that I am not particularly a fan of!

Correct response: Who is Erwin Schrödinger?

More Information About Final Jeopardy!:

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2026 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

Erwin Schrödinger, who shared the 1933 Nobel Prize in Physics with Paul Dirac, is known for his work in quantum physics, including a namesake equation that allows for the calculation of a wave function and how it might change dynamically. He's best known in "popular science" for a thought experiment involving a cat, which he devised after significant correspondence with Albert Einstein regarding quantum superposition. A hypothetical cat placed inside a closed box with a flask of poison and radioactive material, where the poison is not released until sufficient decay has occurred, might be thought of as simultaneously alive and dead while it is unobserved, but one or the other when it is observed—leaving the question of when quantum superposition ends and when it resolves into one state or another.

That being said, Schrödinger's legacy has been complicated significantly since the publication of a 1989 biography by Walter Moore, relating the scientist's tutoring and subsequent relationship in the 1920s with Ithi Junger; the relationship began when she was 14 years old. While Magdalana and Martin Gronau published a 2026 paper that said that their "findings suggest that the widely circulated allegations in the media stem from a combination of unprofessional, suggestive biographical writing and poor journalism," a number of locations associated with the physicist have chosen to remove his name from commemorations. Certainly, it would not surprise me if the choice of today's Final Jeopardy subject ended up generating negative feedback online as a result of this.

The Google Doodle is still available on Google's website, from August 12, 2013.

Andy's Thoughts:

It should be noted that Shannon's spelling is technically more correct than Karen's is, as ö is replaced with oe and not o.

Nobody will bat an eye, really, that the World Leaders category went 0-for-5. But because it's not a football category…it won't go viral at all, and fans are more likely to blame the writers, as opposed to the contestants.

Today's J!6 clues can be found at the monthly archive.

Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:

(Scores: Shannon $8,200 Jamie $4,800 Karen $3,600)

Shannon: Standard cover bet over Jamie is $1,401. (Actual bet: $1,401)

Karen: You can't both stay ahead of Jamie if he's incorrect and pass Shannon if you're right and she isn't. Thus, you should go all in to maximize your winnings on a singleton get in Final Jeopardy for you. (Actual bet: $3,300)

Jamie: Standard cover bet over Karen is $2,401. (Actual bet: $3,401)
