Long enters this game with a 6-8 career win-loss record and 5 points thus far in the tournament. Yogesh enters this game with a 19-17 career win-loss record and 11 points thus far in the tournament. Victoria enters this game with a 23-8 career win-loss record and 12 points thus far in the tournament.
Andy's Pregame Thoughts:
Once Game 1 tonight finishes, we'll know exactly what is at stake in this game. If Paolo Pasco wins Game 1, then Long Nguyen is guaranteed to finish fourth and there's no elimination at stake. If either Juveria or Andrew wins, though, Long will need at least one if not three points (and potentially a boatload of correct responses) in order to advance. On the other side, Yogesh needs a win in order to take the #1 seed into the semifinals; otherwise, Victoria will take the #1 seed into tomorrow's games.
Here's what the Unified Prediction Model thinks about tonight's second game:
Victoria: 39.4% chance of winning, 30.6% chance of finishing second;
Yogesh: 33.8% chance of winning, 37.2% chance of finishing second;
Long: 26.8% chance of winning, 32.2% chance of finishing second.
As I said in my Pregame Thoughts to Game 1, I honestly believe that everyone in the competition has enough respect for everyone else's skill, and they all know that anyone in the field is capable of beating anyone else in the field. Thus, I am confident that everyone in this game will be playing their absolute best in this game.
