Some of the comments that I got here on the site when this game aired the first time around include some of the most baffling I’ve received in the 13 and a half years writing for The Jeopardy! Fan.

Yellowstone is a well-known television series that aired on the Paramount Network cable channel for five seasons between 2018 and 2024; its critical acclaim include Kevin Costner winning a Golden Globe Award for Best Perfornace by an Actor in a Television Series — Drama. It’s also released a number of spinoffs, including 1883, 1923, and The Madison (currently in production).
The original series follows the Dutton family (Kevin Costner portrayed John Dutton III), the owners of the largest cattle ranch in Montana (known as the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch).

Looking to find out who won Jeopardy! today? Here’s the September 27-28, 2025 Jeopardy! by the numbers, along with a recap:
Game Recap:
While Brina led early as a result of the Daily Double, Bryce found DD2 and broke a close game open by doubling up through it. Brina found DD3 very late, which ensured that Bryce led going into a triple-get Final Jeopardy; Bryce’s cover bet ensured victory #3.
The aspect of this game that caused the most controversy in some circles was that the judges went back to the tape for a reversal on Lee failing to phrase his response in the form of a question on a $2,000 clue. Firstly, this is a reminder that to go from a correct response to an incorrect one, twice the clue’s value is deducted (meaning, the deduction was correct at $4,000). Secondly, the tenor of the comments last April were of the “How dare the judges ding Lee for failing to phrase his response in the form of a question?” persuasion, as if they somehow felt Lee should be given a pass on the show’s most important rule. I’ll leave it as an exercise for the reader to determine why I think these commenters felt that way.
Scores going into Final:
Bryce $15,600
Lee $10,000
Brina $2,316
Tonight’s results:
Brina $2,316 + $1,600 = $3,916 (What is… Yellowstone? (Love you mom + dad! + sam))
Lee $10,000 + $9,999 = $19,999 (What is Yellowstone?)
Bryce $15,600 + $4,600 = $20,200 (What is Yellowstone?) (3-day total: $59,400)
Game Stats:
Bryce $12,800 Coryat, 17 correct, 3 incorrect, 28.07% in first on buzzer (16/57), 3/3 on rebound attempts (on 9 rebound opportunities)
Lee $10,000 Coryat, 18 correct, 7 incorrect, 40.35% in first on buzzer (23/57), 2/2 on rebound attempts (on 5 rebound opportunities)
Brina $3,000 Coryat, 11 correct, 3 incorrect, 15.79% in first on buzzer (9/57), 2/3 on rebound attempts (on 10 rebound opportunities)
Combined Coryat Score: $25,800
Lach Trash: $13,800 (on 14 Triple Stumpers)
Coryat lost to incorrect responses (less double-correct responses): $14,400
Lead Changes: 3
Times Tied: 2
