Welcome to Wednesday, March 24, 2021. The petition that was sent to Jeopardy! signed by over 500 former contestants regarding Dr. Oz received a lot of media attention yesterday. I was very glad to see that! Without further ado, here is today’s Final Jeopardy:

The Jeopardy! community is mourning the loss of Brayden Smith, who passed away on February 5. The Brayden Smith Memorial Fund has been established, dedicated to furthering the educational aspirations of Southern Nevada students.

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: Amal’s very methodical gameplay worked very well for him yesterday, especially in Double Jeopardy, as he had a runaway game. More and more contestants are saying on Reddit, though, how much longer it is taking to tape these episodes, which makes it that much harder to defend a title. One thing’s for certain, though: After today’s game, we’ll have reached a point that you’ve seen Jon, and you’ve seen Amal.
PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to abide by physical distancing guidelines and when you are not able to do so, properly wear a mask. Ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

The IKEA Effect, named after famous Swedish manufacturer and furniture retailer IKEA, dates from a 2011 study that reported that people were willing to pay over 60% more for items that they had made themselves, due to the fact that people intrinsically place more value into an item that they have assembled themselves. This obviously can have advantage for manufacturers as well, as then they only need to provide the raw materials to the consumer, who can them assemble things into the finished product.
