Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris, France, completed in 1345, is a famous Catholic cathedral; general interest in the cathedral expanded greatly after Victor Hugo’s novel The Hunchback of Notre-Dame was published (the description in the clue came from Hugo’s work).
Unfortunately, the cathedral caught fire in April 2019 while undergoing renovations; the current hope is that the reconstruction can be finished by 2024.
