On the hosting front: I’m getting a sense that a host announcement for Season 39 is going to be coming incredibly soon. In addition, contracts for next season are going to need to be signed—in fact, they may already be signed—as Season 39 begins taping at the beginning of August.
On a more personal note: For the past two and a half years, I have often raised money for the MS Society of Canada through their “Gamers vs. MS” program. This July, Gamers vs. MS is running a month-long fundraising campaign called “Boss Battles.” In an attempt to raise $25,000, the Gamers vs. MS team has designed a “fundraising adventure” to defeat eight evil bosses. (Much like a Mario game might have eight bosses to defeat.) Broadway is a main street in New York City, running from State Street at Battery Park at the foot of Manhattan northward to the city, where it eventually becomes U.S. Highway 9 near Sleepy Hollow north of NYC.
As a Canadian who got this Final correct, here was my thought process; I’m posting this hoping that this might help others “think out” clues in the future. First up: “Sleepy Hollow” leads me to New York, as does the reference to the Dutch. Secondly, the phrase “originally a Native American trail” tells me this road does not follow a grid system. In general, roads built initially by natives generally followed the land and not a grid. Thus, putting everything together: Broadway is a major road in New York City that does not follow the city’s otherwise-planned grid system.
In case anyone is wondering: Babylon, NY is on Long Island, so both Alfred and champion Matt (from just across the river in New Jersey) might have a slight local advantage on this clue over Alison. However, as I did say at the start of the previous paragraph: I’m Canadian, and I got it correct, so this isn’t a clue that is just going to be for New Yorkers.
