Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: Today’s game should see fireworks—Ed, Gary, and Deborah were all very strong in their respective quarterfinals, though Ed was the strongest of the three on the buzzer. Ed should probably be the favorite to make the finals, but Final Jeopardy can always derail someone who’s been dominating—much like Lewis Hamilton got derailed at the end on Sunday after dominating most of the proceedings in the Formula 1 race.

The Theodore Roosevelt Rough Rider Award is awarded in North Dakota as the 26th President spent many of his formative years in the state; Theodore Roosevelt National Park in the North Dakota Badlands was also named for him.

- Ed should have bet no more than $4,801.
- I understand that contestants are briefed on the rules, but it’s stressful under the lights. I believe that the host should remind players that they can bet up to maximum value on the board. Mayim has failed to do so for the third time this tournament. Not only that, an extra $200 for Gary would have taken this game from a “crush” game to a “two-thirds” game.
