Warning: This page contains spoilers for the March 31, 2026, game of Jeopardy! — please do not scroll down if you wish to avoid being spoiled. Please note that the game airs as early as noon Eastern in some U.S. television markets.

Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category U.S. History) for Tuesday, March 31, 2026 (Season 42, Game 147):

Amelia Earhart was among the guests at a 25th anniversary ceremony held December 17, 1928 in this state

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Kimberly Ayers, a college professor from San Marcos, California

Kimberly Ayers on Jeopardy!

Seth Politano, a physician & medical school professor from Los Angeles, California

Seth Politano on Jeopardy!

Jamie Ding, a bureaucrat & law student from Lawrenceville, New Jersey (12-day total: $314,440)

Jamie Ding on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

On this final day of March (I hope it’s exiting like a lamb and not a lion where you’re reading this), we have Jamie Ding entering today as a 12-day champion and winnings that are the 16th-best of all time in regular play. Today, he attempts to pick up victory number 13 against a pair of Californians in Seth Politano and Kimberly Ayers.

Today will also see a double dose of Jeopardy, as tonight sees the debut of the YouTube edition of the show. Airing on the show’s YouTube channel at 9:00 Eastern (6:00 Pacific) will be a game, hosted by Ken Jennings, between Monét X Change, Rebecca Black and Brennan Lee Mulligan. Certainly, there will be a portion of my reading audience who has zero interest in these players—but I assure you that 95% of the people I know who are my age and younger in my group of friends/acquaintances are extremely excited for this.

Thirdly, the JeoparDAY! Giveaway Test is still open for another six days for your chance at $6,200, being awarded to one person who takes the test. Make sure you enter!

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2026 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

As a part of the commemoration of the first successful human attempt at heavier-than-air, controlled, powered flight that occurred at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina on December 17, 1903, a granite marker at Kill Devil Hill was dedicated, with more than 200 delegates from the International Civil Aeronautics Conference and more than 3,000 visitors attending. The crowd included Orville Wright himself, in addition to Amelia Earhart. The National Park Service has a web page detailing the commemorative efforts of the 1903 first flight of the Wright Brothers.

That being said: I have said this dozens of times before in these write-ups, but I will say it again: if there is a year in a clue as well as a number signifying an anniversary, do the math. For me, it was a very straightforward 1928 less 25 to get to December 1903, which should be Pavlovian for the first flight. (Having Earhart in the clue only cements it.)

Game Recap:

Jamie Ding only found one of the game’s three Daily Doubles today—but that didn’t stop him from cruising to a crushing runaway victory over our two challengers, both of whom saw a Daily Double but made a conservative bet on their opportunity.

Jamie had a chance to pick up some more coin in Final Jeopardy, and he took full advantage today, getting his 13-day total to $360,000 even. He’ll be back tomorrow to attempt to get another victory.

Scores going into Final:

Jamie $29,400
Kimberly $6,600
Seth $4,000

Tonight’s results:

Seth $4,000 + $2,601 = $6,601 (What is North Carolina)
Kimberly $6,600 + $1,401 = $8,001 (What is Missouri North Carolina?)
Jamie $29,400 + $16,160 = $45,560 (What is North Carolina?) (13-day total: $360,000)

Jamie Ding, today's Jeopardy! winner (for the March 31, 2026 game.)
