In 1620, beer was generally considered to be safer to drink than water, especially on a long ship’s voyage, which meant that a beer shortage was major cause for concern. Thus, the Mayflower, headed for Virginia, docked in New England in the fall of 1620. Even forcing the passengers ashore to drink the Cape Cod fresh water was not a popular decision. However, the settlement at Plymouth, Massachusetts eventually thrived.
Since Alex Trebek’s diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer, many community members have been raising money. The Jeopardy! Fan Online Store is as well! All proceeds from any “Keep The Faith And We’ll Win” shirt sold will be donated to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. To date, nearly $500 has been raised.)
