Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Contemporary Authors) for Tuesday, February 11, 2025 (Season 41, Game 112):
Asked by a student about the Loch Ness Monster, she said a time portal below could allow a prehistoric creature to pass through
(correct response beneath the contestants)

Neilesh Vinjamuri, a software engineer from Lionville, Pennsylvania (1 win)
Isaac Hirsch, a customer support team lead from Burbank, California (0 wins)

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
Happy Tuesday! Today is Game 3 of the Tournament of Champions Finals. Both Neilesh Vinjamuri and Adriana Harmeyer have a single victory at this point and are hoping to get a second, while Isaac Hirsch—after one game where he led going into Final and a second where he had the best Coryat Score—is still looking for a victory.
In case you missed it last night, the show revealed the names of the 27 players who’ll be competing in the Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament immediately following the Tournament of Champions. The next few weeks will be awesome!

Correct response: Who is Diana Gabaldon?
More information about Final Jeopardy:
(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2025 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)
Diana Gabaldon is the author of the series of novels that began with 1991’s Outlander, featuring World War II nurse Claire Beauchamp, who travels through time and finds romance with Highland warrior Jamie Fraser. The series was also transformed into a TV series starring Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan. With time travel serving as a major part of the series, it comes as no surprise that she would believe that the Loch Ness Monster could appear as a result of a time portal below.
On her website, she recounts a letter that she sent to Olivia Perfetti, who was a sixth-grade student in Pittsburgh at the time. Basically, Gabaldon said that the Loch doesn’t have enough biomass to support a breeding population of monsters that size, which means the only way Nessie could exist is if there was a “time-portal under Loch Ness, which would occasionally allow a prehistoric creature to pass through it.”
