Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Movie Theme Songs) for Thursday, March 23, 2023 (Season 39, Game 139):

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Daisy Donohue, an actor & artist originally from St. Paul, Minnesota

Alec Chao, a management & program analyst from Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Alec Chao on Jeopardy!

Melissa Klapper, a professor from Merion Station, Pennsylvania (3-day total: $59,100)

Melissa Klapper on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

Melissa Klapper is 3-day champion; she’s the 14th person to either win a tournament or win at least 3 games thus far in Season 39. Will she become the 10th to either win a tournament of win at least 4 games in today’s episode? I’m sure that Alec Chao and Daisy Donohue would like to become champion themselves!

Bad news if you watch the game on a CBS station after 7:00 PM Eastern: March Madness returns to CBS today and tomorrow, with the Sweet 16 round. Check your local listings to find where the show has been moved.

PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they can, including any boosters as recommended. When wearing a mask, please ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

Monty Norman was a British composer of the mid-20th century; he is best known today for being credited with composing the “James Bond Theme”, as well as the score of the 1962 film Dr. No, the first film in the famed series. Norman passed away at the age of 94 in 2022.

Interestingly, controversy has surrounded the role in which John Barry has played in the theme’s re-arrangement; British papers who have attempted to discount Norman’s role in the past have been successfully sued for libel.
