Correct response: What is the Philippines?
More information about Final Jeopardy:
During most of the first half of the 20th century, the United States held sovereignty over the Philippines; the Commonwealth of the Philippines was established in 1935 as a result of the Tydings–McDuffie Act (Philippine Independence Act), which allowed the islands to transition to an independent country over a ten-year transition period. During the Commonwealth years, the islands sent an elected Resident Commissioner to the U.S. House of Representatives (similar to Puerto Rico today). The Treaty of Manila was signed on July 4, 1946, recognizing full Philippine independence.

Andy’s Thoughts:
- It’s been reported to me by an audience member that on the opening clue of Double Jeopardy!, the judges stopped tape to confirm that Aaron did, in fact, fail to put his response in the form of a question. Due to that lengthy tape stoppage, it was judged to be unfair to allow rebounds; thus, that is why neither Michonne nor Andrea rang in on a rebound. Also, note that the penalty was applied because it occurred during Double Jeopardy!; the previous high-profile instances where Alex only gave warnings occurred in the Jeopardy! round (where failure to phrase is a warning offense, not a penalty).
