These are all chapters in Mark Twain’s famed 1889 work of early science fiction A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court. (I’m glad they’re asking for just the author and not the work; I guess the writers do have a reasonable streak from time to time.) In the work, a 19th-century engineer named Hank Morgan gets transported back into the past to the time of King Arthur, and uses his knowledge of the future to make people believe that he is a very powerful magician.

Andy’s Thoughts:
- Thank you to Jay Johnson for his assistance getting the last three clues of Double, as well as Final, after KTRK in Houston was pre-empted mid-game.
- Through 9 days, $202,085 has been donated to the Bowery Mission. $1,897,061 has been donated to all charities.
- Even at the $2,000 level, a Daily Double, on average, plays easier than the average Final Jeopardy. It’s usually in a player’s best interest to bank one’s win chances on the Daily Double instead, even at risk of the game otherwise. It would have worked out for Sandy today.
- Oftentimes, subject matter experts (like a high school English teacher for example in a literature category) will suffer from knowing too much about a given category and won’t have the time in 30 seconds to filter out the “noise” of what they know about other things from the “signal” of the correct response.
