Charleston, South Carolina (1790 population 16,359) was the 4th-most populous city in the United States in the 1790 Census, and by far the South’s most populous, over 4 times as populous as #2 in the South, Richmond, Virginia. (3,761).
Interestingly, of the 10 most populous in 1790, two of them were folded into Philadelphia in the 19th century; Northern Liberties, PA (#6), and Southwark, PA (T-#10).
Since Alex Trebek’s diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer, many community members have been raising money. The Jeopardy! Fan Online Store is as well!
