William Thomas, who wrote the first English-language book on Italy, 1549’s “History of Italy”, wrote of the politician Prospero Adorno, who was deposed in July 1478 after Prospero attempted to ally with Ferdinand of Aragon and had conversations with Pope Sixtus IV (the Genoese population feared betrayal and deposed him).
The Tempest’s character of Prospero is a Duke of Milan who had been deposed by his brother Antonio (and set out to sea with his daughter Miranda to die). However, Prospero and Miranda survived, while Prospero learned sorcery in order to protect his daughter and control others.

- The largest deficit overcome to win a College Championship final is $14,800, by Joey Beachum in 2008. Three other tournaments have had deficits of $25,000 or greater overcome: the 10th Anniversary Tournament (Frank Spangenberg was a pre-doubled $13,000 behind Tom Nosek, adjusted to $26,000), the February 2007 Teen Tournament (David Walter was $25,800 behind Ben Schenkel), and the July 2007 Teen Tournament (Meryl Federman was $25,000 behind Greg Peterson).
