Correct response: What is turquoise?

More information about Final Jeopardy:

Back the better part of a decade ago, I was at an exhibit at Royal Ontario Museum about gems and gemstones and the exhibit said that “turquoise” comes from the French for the country known as Turkey. Of course, at the time, I said “I’d better remember that, that’s going to be a Final Jeopardy! someday.”

I was right. It became a Final Jeopardy! some day.

The mineral known as turquoise (from which the blue-green color of the same name gets its name) originated in Persia and was brought to Western Europe from Turkey. From that, it got the name turquoise.
