With the Series of 1928, first released to the public in July 1929, many changes were made to US currency in order to standardize it (which was helpful against counterfeiters of the time). Alexander Hamilton was on the $10 bill (where he still is today), replacing Andrew Jackson, who is on the $20. Interestingly, Jackson was on the $5 bill between 1869 and 1923 before moving to the $10.
Jackson was scheduled to be removed from the $20 in favour of Harriet Tubman in 2020, but according to an announcement Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin made in May, the replacement “can’t be rolled out until 2028” and that the problems are of a “technical” nature. I get the sense that the May announcement would have inspired one of the writers to write this Final Jeopardy. Certainly wouldn’t surprise me!
Since Alex Trebek’s diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer, many community members have been raising money. The Jeopardy! Fan Online Store is as well!
