Correct response: What is the Dust Bowl?

The term “The Dust Bowl” was used to describe the Southern Plains region of the United States during the Great Depression. Severe drought struck the region in the early-to-mid 1930s, turning what had been marginally arable farmland (which had been able to grow crops previously due to what rain did fall) into dust. It devastated the economy of many states, including Oklahoma, which led to mass migration to locations such as California.
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the term “Dustbowl” first appeared in the Durant Daily Democrat on March 26, 1936.
Since Alex Trebek’s diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer, many community members have been raising money. The Jeopardy! Fan Online Store is as well!
