Correct response: What is the Gateway Arch?

Designed by Eero Saarinen, the Gateway Arch opened in the 1960s in St. Louis, Missouri; the area surrounding it was designated Gateway Arch National Park in 2018. One clue-reading note: The clue says “this 630-foot landmark”—that means that the clue is technically asking for the landmark (even though the National Park does have the same name). Finally, for some fun New York Times synergy: the Gateway Arch showed up in yesterday’s New York Times crossword as part of the theme.

Jeopardy! Round categories: Face the Music; A Horse with a Name; How Inventive!; That’s Our Island; It’s Getting Windy; TFW… (The Feeling When)
Ryan jumped out to a lead going into the first break, buoyed by a Daily Double. Coming out of the break, Ryan also played very strong, picking up a dozen correct responses in Single Jeopardy. Nick sat second, while Divya struggled with incorrect responses.
Double Jeopardy! Round categories: Swedish History; That Book Plagues Me; Skeleton Crew; Close to the Vest; Let’s Gamble; I’ve Got a Big Bank Role
Nick switched out of Swedish History and yielded the first Daily Double to Ryan; Nick got their shot at a betting clue later in the round. Both Ryan and Nick missed their respective Daily Doubles, though. While Nick had a strong final 10 clues of the round, Ryan still held a slim lead going into Final. The scores were Ryan at $16,200, Nick at $14,600, and Divya at $4,000.
In Final, both Nick and Ryan gave an alternatively correct response (see the “Andy’s Thoughts” section for more); Ryan bet enough to maneuvre past Nick with his usage of a Shoretegic bet to become a 2-day champion. While I still don’t generally agree with Shore’s Conjecture, it worked for Ryan today! He’ll be back tomorrow.

- I like how the show has resumed keeping the category on-screen at all times during Final Jeopardy.
Yes, the judges were correct to accept “St. Louis Arch”; a cursory Google shows numerous usage citations for the term. This is a very consistent ruling by the judges and it is improper to assign blame anywhere for this decision.
- I maintain that Jeopardy! would be more boring if every single player always bet exactly by the book every time.
