Onto this week’s games, Jared Watson is your returning 2-day champion; he improved significantly over his Day 1 performance, picking up 31 correct in Friday’s game! If this can continue, Jared will be a force and may go on a bit of a run! If not, I’m sure that challengers Harrison Seidel or Annabelle Winter would love to become champion!

Because telegrams were generally priced by length, it was obvious that acronyms were necessary in order to save on costs. The acronym SCOTUS, referring to the Supreme Court of the United States, actually predates the acronym for POTUS by about a decade or so, according to Merriam-Webster. When he became President, Barack Obama used the @POTUS handle on Twitter for the official account that he was (finally) permitted to create in 2015.

The turning point in today’s game came about two-thirds of the way through Double Jeopardy, where Harrison went back to the same category as the first Daily Double multiple times (with Annabelle doing so as well). Needless to say, Jared found the final Daily Double and his correct response gave him his crucial runaway margin going into Final.

Andy’s Thoughts:
The show has explicitly said (on Inside Jeopardy!) that both Daily Doubles in Double Jeopardy! will never be in the same category. Going back to the same category is what I would call the biggest strategic blunder to make on the show at this point in time. Today, it probably was the difference between Harrison becoming champion or not.
