Friday was certainly a historic Game #1 of a final—for the first time in the history of the show, two players finished Game 1 of a 2-day final with $0. Long also has a $36,800 lead over both Roy and Rotimi—the largest lead overcome on Day 2 of a final is currently $26,000 (a pre-doubled $13,000) from the 10th Anniversary Tournament in 1993. Does this mean Long’s lead is insurmountable? No. Does it mean that he’s very much in control right now? Yes.
Because of the NFL playoff games happening today, a situation exacerbated by the postponement of the Bills–Steelers game to 4:30 PM Eastern this afternoon, there are widespread pre-emptions happening in many markets. Make sure to check your local listings to determine when Jeopardy! is airing in your area!

Paul Robeson, who became the first Black actor to portray Shakespeare’s Othello in a British production in over half a century when he did so in 1930, described Othello in an interview as follows:
Shakespeare’s Othello has learned to live in a strange society, but he is not of it—as an easterner today might puck up western manners and not be western. Othello’s personal, racial dignity is involved in his love. He might have been much slower to suspicion if his wife had been of the same background. But he is intensely proud of his color and culture; in the end, even as he kills, his honor is at stake, not simply as a human being and as a lover, but as Othello. The honor of his whole culture is involved.
Robeson has since been very associated with the role of Othello; the 1943 Broadway production starring him still holds the Guinness record for the longest-running Shakespeare play on Broadway.
