Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: In a category that screamed “This is difficult” on Friday, Leah won by making a conservative wager that paid off when a Triple Stumper happened. “World Literature” doesn’t scream “This is difficult”, though, and as you’ll see below, I think this is an esoteric clue. Leah may need some luck to out-maneuvre her opponents and claim a second win today.
PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to abide by physical distancing guidelines and when you are not able to do so, properly wear a mask. Ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

Correct response: What is St. Petersburg, Russia?

The 1866 classic novel is Fyodor Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment; one of the major parts of its plot is the murder of an elderly pawn-broker and her half-sister by the impoverished Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov, with the intent on stealing the wealthy pawn-broker’s wealth; however, Raskolnikov, overcome by guilt, does not steal significant wealth and eventually confesses to the murders.
Regarding this clue, though: Unless you’re positive that the 1866 novel with the murders is Crime and Punishment, I’m really not sure how you get here—and unless you’re sure of its setting, I’m not sure how you get to St. Petersburg and not Moscow. Full credit to any contestant who gets this one correct. For what it’s worth: maybe I’m just misreading the difficulty of the clue, too. I’ve done that before.
