Correct response: What is The Natural?
More information about Final Jeopardy:
Later made into a 1984 film, The Natural was a 1952 novel by Bernard Malamud. Roy Hobbs, the main character, is a baseball prodigy whose career is derailed when he is shot. The book mainly details Hobbs’ attempts to return to baseball.
Near the end of the novel, Hobbs is bribed to throw a game; the “Say it ain’t so, Roy” echoes what was said to Shoeless Joe Jackson after the 1919 Black Sox scandal.
Since Alex Trebek’s diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer on Wednesday, many community members have been raising money. The Jeopardy! Fan Online Store is as well! All proceeds from any “Keep The Faith And We’ll Win” shirt sold will be donated to Alex Trebek’s preferred charity. (The de facto alumni association is currently inquiring with the show in order to determine Alex Trebek’s preferred charity; this will be updated when that has been determined.
