The Battle of Lexington (part of the Battles of Lexington and Concord) was fought on April 19, 1775, and were the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary War. The last veteran of the Battle of Lexington was Jonathan Harrington, a fifer, who lived until 1854. (A different Jonathan Harrington was actually killed at Lexington.) His funeral was attended by the governor of Massachusetts and 18 military companies (more soldiers than had fought at Lexington and Concord combined.)
