Robert Louis Stevenson died very young, at the age of 44 in 1894; his health had been failing him for some time before that, and in search of a place that would help him recuperate, the famed author of works like Treasure Island settled in Samoa in 1890. The Samoans revered him and Stevenson took the name “Tusitala” (Teller of Tales”.)
His home in Samoa is now a museum dedicated to the later years of his life.

Andy’s Thoughts:
Today’s betting situation (namely, where first’s score is exactly double third) is an interesting one. J! Archive’s wagering calculator specifically says “Don’t fall into the trap of making the Four-fifths Rule wager”, which Zorn did (He should have bet $3,000 or $3,001). Good thing it worked out for him. Meanwhile, Meredith underwagered slightly, which would have made for a painful loss had Zorn wagered properly and Final worked out differently.
- Let’s hope the couple of seconds that Alex took to explain both pronunciations of “Malay” helps save significant online commentary from the peanut gallery. (Not anyone who comments here, but the people who like to take to Facebook and Twitter to complain about such matters.)
- ToC chances if the cutoff happens to be the end of the season instead of eight weeks into the fall of 2019: Dave 77.825%, Jonathan 50.094%, Alex 25.310%, Jackie 6.339%, Mary Ann 0.938%.
