November’s final episode sees 1-day champion Laurel Day take on challengers Susan Beachy and Nick Pietrowicz. Laurel showed a lot of knowledge yesterday in her victory; it’s my hope that she has more confidence in her knowledge going forward (she bet just $400 on a Daily Double and came very close to not leading going into Final Jeopardy yesterday.) She’ll also need a victory in order to continue her Jeopardy career, as 1 win with just $18,801 will not be enough to qualify for Champions Wildcard in January.

While, much like yesterday, the game will likely have aired by the time this gets posted, I will be waiting until about 10 AM Eastern to post the game’s results in order to allow my regular readers to read the game preview without being potentially spoiled by results.

Lisbon International Airport, once known as Portela and now known as Humberto Delgado Airport, was an airport in neutral Portugal during World War II. Due to Portugal’s wartime neutrality, the airport became a hub for those being smuggled into, out of, or across Europe during the war—a major plot point in 1942’s Casablanca.

If you’ve seen Casablanca and remember that they’re trying to get to Lisbon, this should be a relatively straightforward clue. If not, you’re probably going to struggle with this. This is also why the category name should be your absolute last consideration when determining Final Jeopardy bets and should get much less consideration than the show’s producers think it should—what you’re thinking will be a geography clue turns into what is essentially a classic film clue.
