King George II was born in Hanover in 1683; his father, George I, became King of England in 1714 as the closest living Protestant relative of Queen Anne (his second cousin) under the Act of Settlement 1701. George II became King of Great Britain and Ireland in 1727; a few years later, James Oglethorpe founded the colony of Georgia, under a charter issued by (and named for) the King.
(It’s at this point that I’m reminded of a certain Tournament of Champions winner from South Carolina from a few seasons back who liked to troll the state of Georgia by referring to the state as a “penal colony”; while not strictly true, Oglethorpe did propose that the area be a settlement location for what he referred to as “the worthy poor”, suggesting that settlement be used as an alternative to debtors’ prisons. Moreover, the misconception continued due to later convicts being sentenced to provide labor in the colony.)

A methodical game—Marie played slowly and had the most attempts in the first 15 clues—saw Daniel hold a lead at the first break by virtue of him not giving any incorrect responses. Out of the break, Marie got to the Daily Double and that led to her holding a small break after Single Jeopardy!

Daniel started like gangbusters, getting the first 7 clues in the round! Ryan stormed back, though, running the TV category in his own right, and this round was determined by the Daily Doubles. Daniel picked up $4,000 on his, whereas Ryan went conservative on his, only picking up $2,000. Unsurprisingly considering the methodical play from the players, there was one unplayed clue. You can’t really pin this on Mayim, though—this one was on the players. Scores going into Final were Daniel at $17,600, Ryan at $12,000, and Marie at $6,700.
In Final Jeopardy! today, Ryan and Marie got final correct, but Daniel did not; this means that Ryan becomes champion! He’ll be back on Monday to defend his title!
