After being banished from his home island for debasing currency, Diogenes became well known in ancient Athens as a controversial person who made a habit out of criticizing the city’s cultural conventions, seeing Athens as corrupt. He would also pull stunts like interrupting Plato’s lectures by choosing to eat during the discussions.
I suspect this one will play easier for those who were regulars on the old Sony message boards in the mid-2000s; Diogenes was a frequent topic there. Speaking of those old Sony boards, I still remember how excited I was to be able to archive this Season 1 episode in J! Archive last year.
