(as today’s pre-Final scores can be doubled), Sam’s going to need to be $7,700 ahead of Ed and $8,100 ahead of Alisa.
Meanwhile, it just occurred to me this morning that the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey is just a stone’s throw away from both Pebble Beach (one of the gems of American golf) and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca (one of the gems of American motorsport).

Georges Seurat shared the MOMA’s first exhibition—taking place from Nov. 7-Dec. 7, 1929—with Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, and Vincent Van Gogh, four of the preeminent European Post-Impressionist painters; Seurat was selected due to his use of pointillism, the painting technique where small distinct dots of color are applied to form an image; Seurat and Paul Signac developed that style. (interestingly, that basic principle is still used today by inkjet printers.) A Sunday on La Grande Jatte is Seurat’s best-known work.
The MOMA website still contains the catalog from the initial 1929 exhibition.

- I thought that the professors played the Daily Doubles much too conservatively, especially Ed today—he was still losing significantly when he found the final Daily Double. Sam may need to get comfortable with more aggressive play to be competitive in the Tournament of Champions.
- On LATIN MOTTOES & PHRASES $2000, Sam was ruled incorrect because he said “Civius” instead of “Citius”, not because of “Fortibus”/”Fortius”. I missed that on first watch myself.
