Correct response: Who is Don Giovanni?
More information about Final Jeopardy:
Don Giovanni, among the ten most-performed operas worldwide, is a Mozart opera generally considered to be one of the composer’s finest works. Premiering in 1787 in Prague, it is based on the legends of fictional rake Don Juan. The aria of his amorous conquests is “Madamina, il catalogo è questo” and was sung to Donna Elvira, one of Don Giovanni’s former lovers (who is now seeking vengeance). Later, Don Giovanni flirts with bride Zerlina; the ending of the opera features Don Giovanni being carried down to Hell by a chorus of demons.

Andy’s Thoughts:
Jennifer is the 10th contestant to win at least $45,000 in their first win on Jeopardy! and the third in 2019 (Eric R. Backes and Emma Boettcher are the other two).
- Jennifer is the 6th contestant to have at least $35,000 going into Final Jeopardy in their first regular-play appearance on the show. The other 5: Myron Meyer ($39,000), Jason Richards ($37,100), Larissa Kelly ($42,200), Mark Runsvold ($39,400), and James Holzhauer ($40,412).
Jennifer’s first-day Coryat of $29,400 is tied for 11th of all known debut performances in the history of the show. You can find the top 10 here.
- While it seemed as though the MODERN ACTIVISM $2000 clue was referring to that movement’s French roots, the “yellow vest” movement has been co-opted in Canada by hate groups. That clue is going to be received incredibly poorly in Canada, as it will be read in Canada as an attempt to normalize the movement. The writers should have researched this better and elected not to run that clue.
