Originally published in the UK as “Where’s Wally”, “Where’s Waldo” is a famous series of books by Martin Handford, first published in 1987. The object is to find the title character (dressed in a red-and-white striped shirt and jeans) in a double-page spread photograph depicting a scene. Some of the scenes in the original book took up to 8 weeks to illustrate, and the illustrations have gotten increasingly more detailed in the series. The first page of the first book has just over 200 characters, to over 800 characters on the first page of the most recent book in the series.
