Island Records was founded in 1959 with £1,000 by Chris Blackwell. With a name inspired by the Harry Belafonte song “Island in the Sun”, Island is best known for making a star out of Bob Marley, introducing the world to reggae music, and later, sticking with a band called U2 even though it took them a few albums before their breakout album, and another couple to become the sensation they are today. The Joshua Tree, though, is one of the greatest albums ever (at least in my eyes).
It was sold to PolyGram in 1989 for $300 million. Not bad!

- Alex stated at the end of the episode that it was the season’s top one-day total. This is incorrect. Austin Rogers had scores of $65,600 and $69,000 on October 2 and 3. In Alex’s defense, he may have been confused, as the October 2 and 3 games taped in April due to the possibility of a WGA strike, and Alex likely confused those with Season 33 games.
- The record for a champion’s first win is Myron Meyer, having won $50,000 in his sole victory in September 2002.
