Correct response: Who is Indira Gandhi?

More information about Final Jeopardy:

Situated about 10 miles southwest of the New Delhi city centre, Indira Gandhi International Airport is located on the former site of Royal Air Force Station Palam. Passenger traffic began at Palam in 1962, after Delhi’s original airport, Safdarjung, was unable to handle jet traffic. It was renamed Indira Gandhi International Airport when the airport’s new international terminal opened in 1986.

Since Alex Trebek’s diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer, many community members have been raising money. The Jeopardy! Fan Online Store is as well! Tournament of Champions projections:
With a projected 102 regular-play games to go prior to the Tournament of Champions cutoff, after 500,000 simulations, our model shows:
An average of 2.9235 5+-time champions (standard deviation 1.4296).
An average of 5.2723 4+-time champions (standard deviation 1.7598).

An early cutoff took place 4.118% of the time (or a 5-game winner will be left out).

Alex Koral qualified 14.311% of the time.
Eric R. Backes qualified 84.425% of the time.
Anneke Garcia qualified 63.612% of the time.
Lindsey Shultz qualified 35.227% of the time.
Dave Leffler qualified 12.771% of the time.
Jonathan Dinerstein qualified 2.222% of the time.

Andy’s Thoughts:

  • The judges were absolutely correct to reverse Alex’s decision on QUOTES FROM SHAKESPEARE $800. The word “the” is part of the quote, thus, it must be exact, and the leading article rule does not apply.
  • Effective in first on buzzer stats: Alex 44.44% (24/54), Rose 29.63% (16/54), Steven 25.93% (14/54).
