Final Jeopardy! Category: Historic Books

Final Jeopardy! Clue: Ann Eliza Webb, an ex-spouse of this man, penned an exposé about the experience titled “Wife No. 19”

Correct response: Who is Brigham Young?

More Information About Final Jeopardy!:

Ann Eliza Webb is most famous as the 19th wife of Brigham Young, a major early leader in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; originally from Illinois, she moved to Utah in the Mormon migration. She received national attention following her divorce from Young, after which she sued him, alleging neglect, cruelty, and desertion. Wife No. 19 was her autobiography, detailing her experiences in the LDS Church. Following her divorce and subsequent excommunication, she became of the the most vocal campaigners against polygamy and the Church, which ended up being largely successful in seeing anti-polygamy laws enacted.

Jeopardy! Round:

(Categories: The Century Mark; Cars & Trucks; 4, 4; “Man”agrammed Superheroes; Thin Lizard; Therapy Talk)

It was bound to happen eventually; a missed Daily Double (to the tune of $4,400) gave Patience the lead through 15 clues. At the interviews, the scores were Patience $3,400 Caleb $1,600 Khalid $0.

Statistics at the first break (15 clues):

Patience 5 correct 0 incorrect
Caleb 7 correct 1 incorrect
Khalid 0 correct 0 incorrect

Today’s interviews:

Khalid was on TV in Calgary talking about Seinfeld in 1998.
Patience gets confused for Sadness from “Inside Out”.
Caleb thinks his family has been very supportive.

Caleb proved that the early True Daily Double was a good strategy, even with his incorrect response, as he took the lead by the end of the round. On the opening board, Caleb ran the therapy category, went 4/5 in 00s years, and 3/5 in lizards and anagrammed superheroes. In a rarer occurence, he gave 3 incorrect responses in the car category.

Statistics after the Jeopardy round:

Caleb 16 correct 4 incorrect
Patience 6 correct 2 incorrect
Khalid 2 correct 2 incorrect

Scores after the Jeopardy! Round:

Caleb $3,600
Patience $3,000
Khalid $800

Double Jeopardy! Round:

(Categories: Great Scots!; Abbreviations; At The Center Of Everything; Lit Bits; The Pacific Northwest; Naming Names In Song)

Khalid pulled close when he found DD2 immediately; Caleb dominated the round, though, picking up 15 correct, as well as DD3, as he cruised to a runaway. He went 4/5 in The Pacific Northwest and 3/5 in Scots.

Statistics after Double Jeopardy:

Caleb 31 correct 5 incorrect
Patience 12 correct 2 incorrect
Khalid 10 correct 3 incorrect
Total number of unplayed clues this season: 11 (0 today).

Scores going into Final:

Caleb $23,000
Patience $9,400
Khalid $8,400

It was a good thing that Caleb had that runaway, as Patience was the only player to get Final Jeopardy correct. Caleb takes win #9 on the strength of that runaway and will go for superchampion status tomorrow.

Tonight’s results:

Khalid $8,400 – $8,399 = $1 (Who is Hugh Hefner??)
Patience $9,400 + $9,400 = $18,800 (Who is Brigham Young?)
Caleb $23,000 – $3,000 = $20,000 (Who is Nabokov?) (9-day total: $240,500)

Caleb Groen, today's Jeopardy! winner (for the July 14, 2026 game.)
