Yesterday on Jeopardy!, Caleb Groen became the fifth superchampion of Season 42, the 23rd superchampion of all time, and only the fifth player in the history of the show to break $60,000 in one game at least twice. The others: James Holzhauer (21), Matt Amodio (5), Amy Schneider (3), and Austin Rogers (2).
However, there is still a lot at stake for Caleb despite his new superchampion status. Due to the high number of superchampions this season—Caleb is the fifth to qualify for the 34th Tournament of Champions—Caleb will need at least two more wins to have a chance at one of those coveted top three seeds that would help his ToC victory chances significantly. The Unified Prediction Model still shows Caleb as having played better overall than Jamie Ding thanks to Caleb’s record on Daily Doubles over his 10 wins thus far. (Caleb has averaged earning a net of $8,170 per game thus far, compared to just $3,341 per game for Jamie—more than enough to tip the scales slightly in Caleb’s favor right now.) Looking to earn the title of “giant killer”, though, are a pair of New Englanders in Boston attorney Lea James and Providence Latin teacher Jonathan Migliori.

More Information About Final Jeopardy!:
While the consumption of meat is common in some parts of India, especially in Kerala, West Bengal, or Goa (Goa certainly is famous food-wise for being the home of the often-spicy meat curry vindaloo), the prevalence of many religions that promote vegetarianism—most notably Buddhism and Jainism—within India itself leads to that country having by far the highest number of vegetarians in the world, with nearly 40% of that country’s population eschewing the consumption of meat. (In terms of percentages, Israel is second, Taiwan third, and Italy fourth.)
I suspect there are going to be a lot of people who don’t realize that there is a logical way in to this clue and spend most of the day complaining about it on various social media platforms, but as someone who did come up with the correct response here—because I knew of the prevalence of religions that promote vegetarianism in the country—I think those complaints are not particularly valid. Sometimes you have to know things about the world in order to get clues on Jeopardy! that rely on knowing how or why the world is the way that it is.
