Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:
Nicco Martinez, an accountant originally from Columbus, Ohio
Zach Pollock, a retired logistics executive from Media, Pennsylvania
Jamie Ding, a bureaucrat & law student from Lawrenceville, New Jersey (30-day total: $849,603)
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
After being given one of the best games in Jeopardy! history yesterday by Patrick Nolan, Jamie Ding enters today as a 30-game champion, looking to pick up victory number 31 against Zach Pollock and Nicco Martinez.
As I said yesterday on some of my social media—I am concerned that people online are going to leak Jamie Ding’s defeat when it happens, even more so because there is someone who has been intercepting the episode distribution between the show and its local affiliates and leaking the episodes online early via the warez scene.
And finally, due to ABC’s coverage of the NFL Draft today, there will be pre-emptions if you watch the show on an ABC local affiliate. Make sure to check your local listings, or Matt Carberry’s Google sheet, for the rescheduled time.

Final Jeopardy! Category: The Literary Year
Final Jeopardy! Clue: In 1954, on the 50th anniversary of this day, a group went to a Martello tower before going on a bender
In order to redesign our merchandise area to serve you better in 2026, all merchandise sales have been temporarily taken offline. Look for a return in late 2026! All previous orders will still be supported.
Correct response: What is Bloomsday?
More Information About Final Jeopardy!:
In order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of June 16, 1904, the date on which James Joyce’s Ulysses was set, a number of members of the Irish literati decided to celebrate “Bloomsday”, so named after Molly Bloom from the Joyce work. As with Ulysses itself, the day started at the Martello tower, and the group, including Flann O’Brien, Patrick Kavanagh, and others, proceeded to make their way around to numerous pubs. Footage from the first Bloomsday can be found on YouTube.
The key to this Final Jeopardy is to either recognize 1904 or the Martello tower as settings from Ulysses; from there, it should be an easy hop to Bloomsday. That being said, one must make the first step in order to get to the second, and I suspect that it will be a challenging first step today.

Jamie types with his fingers when spelling words.
Both challengers played well after the break, but Jamie continued to lead. On the opening board, Jamie was 3/5 in world capitals.

Double Jeopardy! Round:
(Categories: They Come To America; “Small” Talk; An Invitation To Science; French Movies; Classical Music; 5-Letter History)
Double Jeopardy saw Jamie be his usual dominant self, picking up 15 correct and a Daily Double. Nicco had a chance with the last Daily Double, but his incorrect response dropped him back to $0. Jamie cruised to a runaway, going 3/5 in French movies, classical music, and history. Interestingly, he went either 2/5 or 3/5 in every category in this game, showing just how wide his knowledge base is.
Statistics after Double Jeopardy:
Jamie 28 correct 0 incorrect
Zach 12 correct 1 incorrect
Nicco 12 correct 4 incorrect
Total number of unplayed clues this season: 11 (0 today).
Scores going into Final:

Zach gained a modicum of pride by being the only player to give a correct response to Final Jeopardy today. Jamie went for a conservative bet in Final, though, and is now a 31-day champion. He’ll go for win #32 tomorrow!
Tonight’s results:
Nicco $400 – $0 = $400 (What is ?)
Zach $6,600 + $1,000 = $7,600 (What is Bloom’s Day)
