So yesterday, Will Anderson won his second episode. He’s coming to our Hangout Monday at 5:30 Central, as are Colby Burnett, Julia Collins, Nicholas Berube, Mark Barrett and the possibility of so many others I’m afraid we’ll have more than ten and won’t be able to take everybody. 😛 Speaking of Colby, don’t forget to watch King of the Nerds tonight! I’m recording it on my Chromebook for Andy! If you need me to send it to you too, I can.

I think Sarah meant “toque” when she responded to this one in What’s That on Your Head?: “The name of this piece of headwear comes from the French for ‘tuft of hair.'” I’m glad she said that because it reminded me of the time Trebek said a teenage audience member had one on his head and everyone thought Trebek had lost it.
As for this one in the same category, I don’t know about you other Catholics but I’ve never heard the pope’s “headgear” referred to by this name: “Boniface VIII is seen wearing this papal headgear, also a term for a princess’ crown.”
By the first break, Will was on fire.
Will 4200 (9 right and one wrong)
Brad 0 (2 right and one wrong)
Sarah 1000 (3 right and one wrong)
Uh oh – another “how we met” story! I don’t mind them, but some people do.
Brad found the Daily Double of the round in World Capital Points of Interest.
Will 5800 (2 right)
Brad 2000 (3 right)
Sarah 3400 (3 right)
Brad wagered it all on this clue: “Enjoy the van Gogh museum & the stock exchange, founded in 1602 in this city…but don’t stop for any red lights.” He and I got it right.
At the end of the round:
Will 5600 (2 right and 2 wrong)
Brad 5000 (2 right)
Sarah 3400 (One right and one wrong)
Brad found the first Daily Double of Double Jeopardy in Features of Creatures.
Will 4400 (One wrong)
Brad 7400 (3 right)
Sarah 3400
Brad wagered 1500 on this clue: “This creature of the genus hippocampus has a prehensile tail & a brood pouch.” Brad was wrong. But he found the next one too, in The Kids Are Not All Right!
Will 4000 (One wrong)
Brad 10300 (4 right and one wrong)
Sarah 5400 (2 right)
Brad wagered 2000 on this clue: “‘Veruca Salt, the little brute, has just gone down the garbage chute,’ wrote this author.” An easy one, and Brad nailed it.
Look how close Brad is to having a lock on the game at the end of Double Jeopardy:
Will 8000 (5 right and one wrong)
Brad 15900 (3 right)
Sarah 7000 (2 right and one wrong)
The Final Jeopardy category is Rivers. This is the clue: “This North American river first sailed by Europeans in 1534 is named for a man who was martyred in Rome in the 3rd century.” Sarah was right and wagered everything! Will was wrong and lost 7901. Brad? He was right and added 101. He comes back Monday.
I didn’t track my Coryat today.
