The novel ended up being the American classic On The Road. Published in 1957, it was written in 1951, typed out on a continuous reel of paper over a three-week span in April 1951.

Interestingly, former Jeopardy champion Tom Nissley talks about this on the August 23 entry of his book “A Reader’s Book of Days”.
