As I discovered last night, there are a surprising number of people who take math errors rather personally. I guess that shouldn’t really come as a surprise to me, all things considered, but I still found parts of the reaction to be very disappointing.

On Facebook earlier this week, I set a line on the length of Bill’s run at 2.5 victories. There were a lot of people taking the “over”. With the number of overs, had I been making an actual book, it seems like 4.5 might have been a better line.Meanwhile, I think there would be some people on JBoard who would take a second win from Annie tonight about as well asBoomie Aglietti’s loss to Beth Watkins from a few years back.

Wow, I haven’t flubbed this hard in Final Jeopardy in a long while. Mistake #1: I read “Shelley” as “Mary Shelley”, not “Percy Shelley”; that doesn’t help things much anyway. Mistake #2: Not recognizing “Chamouni” = “Chamonix”.
