Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: In the second of tonight’s two quarterfinal matches, North America gets to meet LSU’s Stephen Privat, Rice’s Jasmine Manansala, and Princeton’s Ella Feiner. This game is going to begin at (or about) 8:30 PM Eastern/Pacific, 7:30 PM Central/Mountain.
One thing I’ve noticed is a lot of confusion as to why this tournament is happening during the Olympics. It needs to be noted that this tournament was specifically ordered by ABC as counter-programming to NBC’s Olympics coverage, as game shows are much more inexpensive to produce compared to most scripted television series. This gives ABC a better chance of making money (or, at least, not losing as much money) while NBC has its Olympic coverage.
PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they are able to, including any boosters as recommended. When wearing a mask, please ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.
