Cate bet $2,500. Her clue: His 1982 “not guilty by reason of insanity” verdict led some states to pass laws that allowed “guilty but mentally ill”. Cate was unable to take a guess, and her score fell to $8,700.
DON’T BE A DUMAS was about French authors not named Dumas — Cate did try $1,600 looking for a Daily Double, but shockingly, it was not there! Instead, it was at $2,000! Jim got to play it, with scores at:

Jim bet $3,000 and faced a binary screw on this question: In 1717 it was Bastille Day for this 1-named author who’d do 11 months for satirical verses against the government. His correct response put him at $11,600 and elicited being called “Stimpy” by others in the house.
