I don’t think I’ve noticed a contestant standing sideways at the lectern before. Julia does.
It’s a minor inconvenience when the segment ends on a triple-stumper, because the camera doesn’t generally show the scores again and I have to rewind. It’s happening a lot lately! I should’ve rung in on this one, in I’m Just Wild about “Arry”: “It’s a Scottish cap with straight sides.” At the first commercial break:

Julia found the Daily Double of the round in Fictional Witches.

She wagered 1000, and had a “whatever” attitude about it. Here’s the clue: “In ‘The Thirteenth Sacrifice,’ witches have returned to this city & Boston cop Samantha Ryan is hunting them.” Why have Daily Doubles been no-brainers lately? Anyway she got it. Mr. Trebek gave the less-than-a-minute warning, and there were 4 clues left on the board, and 3 of them were in Playing Lincoln! “Lincoln” referred to the president, not the special Nebraska city.

We did see all the clues, and the last one was a triple-stumper! See? They did show the scores because Mr. Trebek was determining who’d select first in the next round, but I had to rewind anyway because I pressed “stop” at just the wrong moment.

Andrew wagered 2000. I’ll stay off my soapbox about wagering it all early in the game, when you clearly like this category. Here’s the clue: “This historian went to Colby College in Waterville; she later met & married Richard Goodwin, adviser to JFK & LBJ.” This was a snap, too.
Just yesterday we had a category where each response began and ended with “m.” Today, we have a category where each response begins and ends with “g”! I’m surprised anyone knew this one (Andrew), and I wish I’d have gotten it because the Nebraska town of the same name is like an hour from me. “Swedish” should’ve tipped me off: “This Swedish shipbuilding port is known for its canals.” Andrew said it weird.
I got this triple-stumper in In the Funny Papers: “This man says his famous feline is a composite of all the cats from his childhood rolled into one feisty orange fur ball.” Poor Andrew caught neg fever and this was one incident.
Dinu found the next Daily Double, in The Original T-Paine. Mr. Trebek had given the less-than-a-minute warning. There were 2 clues on the board after this one.

Dinu only wagered 100! This was the clue: “Paine was elected to France’s Natl. Convention in 1792 but was imprisoned in 1793 after opposing this king’s execution.” Dinu and I got it right, but mine was a guess while he looked like he knew it. We saw no more clues.
The Final Jeopardy category was 2013 Obituaries. The clue: “She was called a ‘savior,’ a ‘heartless tyrant,’ a ‘trailblazer,’ ‘intimidating’ & a ‘real toughie.'” I deserve some kind of prize for typing that correctly the first time through. Anyway I got this right even though I thought the person died before 2013. I knew it was right when Mr. Trebek said “iron lady.” Julia was right and added 1701. Andrew didn’t write any name! He lost 7401. Dinu got it right, and added 8101! He pumped his fist! I like seeing some life in the contestants for a change.
My Coryat today was 22800 (24400 without negs).
