I got this triple-stumper in Wordplay: “‘You don’t know? Come on, take a dot in the shark’ is an example of this.” This was the last clue before the first break.

For the first time tonight, I saw a clue that made me think I should do another poll this week. Who knew the answer to this in Wordplay, really (read by Kelly)?: “A word that contains the letters of a synonym within it like ‘observe,’ which includes the word ‘see,’ is this beastly type of word.”
There were 7 clues left when Mr. Trebek gave the less-than-a-minute warning. Three clues were left covered.

I thought “Uh oh” when I saw National Geographic 50 Greatest Photographs, since I’ve been having a hard time getting photos from my phone to my e-mail. Luckily I don’t need to say anything about those clues here. I also thought “Uh oh” when Mr. Trebek gave a lengthy, unnecessary explanation of the category before the round began.
Parth got on a roll before he found the first Daily Double of the round in Bacteria. (Cool category, by the way.) Mr. Trebek reminded us then he is a medical student.

Parth wagered 6000 on this clue (good for him): “Meaning ‘acid loving,’ this ‘good’ species of bacteria is used to make yogurt.” Parth got it! Wow!
I was like “Really?” when this was a triple-stumper in On Their Tombstones: “1935 to 1998: ‘And the beat goes on.'” Then I was like “Really?” when Mr. Trebek said Jared and I were wrong on this triple-stumper in the same category: “1917 to 1995: ‘Everybody loves somebody sometime.'” Naturally Mr. Trebek acted like it was a no-brainer.
I got this triple-stumper in Try a Separation: “Drop 1 letter from a word meaning ‘harsh’ to get this word meaning to cut off a part from the whole.” I also got these two in Anagrammed State Capitals: “Leg hair” and “Scary tonic.”
Hillary found the next Daily Double in Try a Separation. It was almost certainly going to be the last clue, though there were two left after this, because Mr. Trebek had given the one-minute warning a long time before that.

I might’ve gone for almost broke here. Hillary wagered 3000 on this clue: “This word for ‘separated’ appears in the first sentence of Julius Caesar’s ‘Gallic Wars.'” Hillary and I didn’t get it, and it was in fact the last clue.
I wondered what would’ve happened if Parth had wagered it all on the Daily Double and if he hadn’t negged on a 1200 clue, but he still would not have had a lock.
The Final Jeopardy category was Classic Albums. I thought maybe I’d get my first final correct of the week and season. But no. I had the right artist though. Here is the clue: “This 1960s album ends with the line ‘I’d love to turn you on.'” I totally had no idea, and still don’t, what Mr. Trebek was trying to do by dragging out the word “on.” Hillary’s response was accepted though incomplete, and Jared got it right. Hillary added 2400. Jared doubled his score. Mr. Trebek was so used to going to Jared last, he went to Parth by mistake! Parth got it wrong, and Mr. Trebek pointed out he’d have won by a dollar if he’d been correct. (He lost 6401.) Instead he comes in third place by a dollar. Parth had the right artist too, but I don’t think what he put was an album.
